Opfer Logan Architects Case Study

The Background

Opfer Logan Architects Builds for a Greener Future with In-House EV Charging Solutions.

Opfer Logan Architects were established in 1997 and have gained a formidable reputation in new build and refurbishment projects through a wide range of building sectors, including listed building/conservation, hotel & leisure, education, commercial, retail, industrial and residential (public and private sectors).

With the increasing demand for electric vehicle charging solutions among its employees, OLA sought a cost-effective solution that not only met the needs of their staff, but also provided them with the necessary tools for effective management, requiring features for monitoring usage, setting preferential rates for staff, and generating reports for HMRC for tax reliefs.

The Solution

OLA were in a position where the directors and employees had taken the sustainable step towards Electric vehicles. The nearest public charging station was often out of use or busy with other EV drivers charging.

After meeting with the Connekt charging solution specialist it was recommend the 2 X 22kw 3 phase charging units would be installed and fully integrated with our advanced cloud-based platform. The existing car park required excavation work to level it off, re-tarmacked and kerb stone to leave a clean finish.

Our team of skilled professionals handled all electrical work, ground work, and installation, causing minimal disruption to business operations. The car park at the front of the building received a complete makeover, including the installation of a dual pole-mounted charging unit, which was connected to the existing power supply to allow for simultaneous charging of two vehicles. The area was also tarmacked, improving the appearance, durability, and safety of the car park. The new EV charging solution provides OLA with the option to provide staff with free or preferred rates of charging whilst the capability to create a revenue stream for public EV drivers.

Managing and monitoring our new EV chargers has been a seamless experience thanks to Connekt's exceptional software platform. With its user-friendly interface, we can easily track electricity usage and set preferential tariffs, providing convenience to both our staff and visitors while generating revenue for the business. We were impressed with Connekt's service, which surpassed our expectations, and we highly recommend it to other architects or businesses looking to install EV chargers

The Clever Bit

Our 22kw charging solution, based on an average 2 hour charging time offers roughly 180 miles of range (speed of charging based on battery type of EV) – perfect for visitors and employees to charge their cars whilst they're at work. The chargers are connected to our back office system, with drivers signing up via our Get Connekted app.

This allows the business to manage and monitor their charging infrastructure, run reports and generate additional revenue by setting preferential tariffs and rates to suit their needs with staff and visitors having the options to gain preferential charging rates via the Get Connekted app or quick pay via the quick pay QR option (via Apple Pay / Google Pay).
