The Background

The Challenge

The museum was undertaking a major upgrade to its car park, which was in a poor state of repair. With EV adoption continuing to rise, this presented an ideal opportunity to introduce EV charging alongside the wider works.

Key considerations included:

Improving the car park infrastructure
Installing EV chargers at the right time to avoid future disruption
Minimising impact on visitors during the works

While there were no technical challenges related to the chargers themselves, the project experienced unavoidable delays linked to external utility providers.

The Solution

Connekt worked closely with Stourbridge Glass Museum to deliver a straightforward and effective EV charging solution as part of the wider car park redevelopment.

The installation included:

1 × 22 kW AC dual Rolec Quantum charger
2 charging connectors, suitable for a wide range of electric vehicles

Connekt provided clear guidance on charger selection and specifications, ensuring the solution met the museum’s needs without unnecessary complexity. The installation was completed efficiently, with strong communication throughout the process. As part of the project, Connekt also supported Stourbridge Glass Museum through one of its bespoke funding solutions, helping to reduce upfront costs and make the installation more accessible as part of the wider car park improvements.

The Impact

The EV charging installation was delivered with minimal disruption to visitors, as the car park was already closed for improvement works, which included resurfacing, lighting, CCTV, and drainage upgrades.
